Danish IT company Wirtek signs strategic partnership agreement with Mark Information effective from April 1st, 2017.
The agreement entails that the two companies establish a new development and test center in Bucharest to supplement Wirtek’s existing development and test center in the city of Cluj-Napoca, also known as Romania’s Silicon Valley. Wirtek has been present in Romania for 10 years and worked with Mark Information for the past five years. Wirtek is specialized in software development and product testing for companies in Denmark and other Western countries.
The branch office in Bucharest will be managed and operated by Wirtek and will initially accommodate 10 employees of which 6 are employed by Mark Information. The new branch office will primarily be specialized in the software platform Progress OpenEdge, and the plan is to expand the competence center during the following 18 – 24 months to at least 25 – 30 employees.
The decision to expand in Romania was a natural next step for Wirtek since the company has experienced significant growth in both the Danish and foreign markets during the last few years:
– In recent years, we have experienced an increasing demand for specialized IT services, and we expect this trend to continue. We can already now see signs that the lack of the right talent will become a growth barrier for Danish companies. We have made it our core competence to provide IT services in Romania for our customers, both in Denmark and in other Western countries with similar challenges. The competence center in Bucharest will service Mark Information and their customers as well as offer software development and testing services to other customers in Europa and the USA.
For Mark Information, this strategic decision is also based on the increase in demand for specialized IT services:

Consequently, it is difficult – and expensive – to recruit employees with specialized IT competences, and the cost of procuring external IT services is also increasing. The situation is a bit different in Romania where the talent pool is larger and access to the right employees is better. With the existing office in Cluj and the new branch office in Bucharest, Wirtek is well prepared for the future. The increasing capacity problems in Denmark and other Western countries is expected to increase the demand for Wirtek’s services in the coming years.
